There are a lot of places online where you should purchase site names. GoDaddy, DomainCheapsters are a couple of the commonest, and one’s I’ve personally used. If you want to find more just visit some online marketing forums and ask for opinions, or perform a search. Many sites offer sales or multiple domain rebates. I know at DomainCheapsters if you buy six or more at a time they’re around $6 to $7 depending on the extension you get. There is a lot of opposing viewpoints about whether or not you should get any domain with a different extension like .net or .org for instance. Personally, I’ll use a .com, .net or .org. You will need to find what’s best for you, but you want to recollect something : many of us will say that patrons will forget a long URL or a different extension, which is right but how do you target the majority of your customers?
If you are not handing out business cards and expecting them to type in the website name than it is not such a large issue. Most of the traffic I am getting is either from searches or from online selling and in all cases my website visitors just have to click a link explaining why I think having different extensions hasn’t had a bad effect on my business.
bother to create your web presence, don’t get bamboozled into believing that going the ‘free’ route with a blog is the simplest way to go.
